Mustang Steering Rack Efforts

I've decided to replace the steering on my car this Spring. I spoke with the guys down at AGR, and they indicated that they actually have the ability to CNC any size T-bar for the input valve (as well as properly balance it). I'm thinking that I may want to go 10-20% stiffer than the '00 Cobra R, which I recall is already somewhat stiffer than the OEM GT.

First of all, can someone who's actually driven a '00 Cobra R tell me how much increase in steering effort it has over a standard (SN-95) GT? Is it a noticable difference? Would an additional 10-20% beyond the Cobra R sound about right, or would you go higher or lower (and why)?

For those new to the board that may be able to help but not be familiar with what I'm working on, it's a 1982 GT with MM k-member, MM LCA's (SN-95 length), '98 SN-95 spindles with 2-piece Brembo's, Koni DA coil-overs front and rear, and 275/40-17's on 17 x 9 AFS Cobra R wheels (315/35-17 on 17 x 10.5 in back).

I plan to run ~7 degrees of caster, so the steering effort will already be up due to that, as well as the larger tires. I'm not looking to totally eliminate the power steering, but I do want to get away from the OE over-boosted feeling.

The pump will likely be a revalved AGR unit, although I also have the option of using the Saginaw TC pump as well.

Do any of you Ford guys (cough/Jeff/cough) happen to have access to the diameters of the SN-95 and Cobra R T-bars?

Thanks, Jim
