Reviving this as I've had some time to work on it. not much, but some.
If you go to: http://thelanderholms.com/videos

You sill see a very simplistic layout of the tracks. Each track is url to the homepage for that track. Under that you will see a config for each track and a number next to it showing how many videos are uploaded for that config. If you click on that you will go to the list of videos.

I actually have track description, car description, driver description fields etc, but I haven't filled them all in. Like i said I just wanted to get the basic layout and the videos up. I don't have many only 5 i think at this time.

A lot of the links are now broken if you want to send me and email with this data that would be great.

track_name
track_description (anything interesting about the track, etc)
track_url (url to the track)
track_config (the layout. many track have multiple configs)
video_url (i need a downloadable one..i'm hosting them)
video_description (description of the video)
car_description (description of your car)
driver_info (how you want your name, age, whatever to show up)

I'm not using all the data now, but I will at some point. So if you want your videos on my server and downloadable please send me and email wit this info, thanks. My email is elanderholm@yahoo.com

New track video site

I love on track videos...but what I don't love about most of what's out there is the quality sucks...so I decided to put up a video site aimed at getting good quality videos online. It's still very much a work in progress, but any of you who want to upload your videos to it, I'd love to have them. http://trackvideo.tv/upload.asp

Caveats:

1) Because MS hasn't gotten their shit together, silverlight has many bugs and has forced me to use media player for .wmvs for the moment.

2) Because MS hates firefox, the site looks and works a lot better in IE right now.

3) At the moment, there are many non-streamable videos online, which means you have wait for them to download before they start playing. This issue should be resolved soon, one way or another.

4) Yes, I know, there are some poor quality videos on the site right now; I just threw some filler up.

5) I'm sure I'm forgetting something, so let's pretend I listed other stuff here

What to upload:

1) Please only upload your videos, not torrents of F1 races or other copywrited material.

2) If it's interesting stuff, that would be nice..which brings us to #3

3) Please don't upload an entire race, unless every lap is riviting

4) no more than 3MBS or so, please.

5) files no larger than 100MB for now, please.

6) MP4s preferred, but I'll take just about anything.

7) Track videos only, no street racing or non car stuff.

Your uploads go into a holding pen, so I can look at what you've put up before publishing. So no porn, Sal

That's about it, I guess.

fluxen, I did try to contact you via PM, however, I keep receiving a message saying I do not have access to do so. I did try to upload the monster file, but it never even started to upload. I then downloaded the link you supplied for converting the file to a .wmv. That knocked the video down to ~56MB. Tried again, but same result: it never even started to load.

The trialware did not let me axe the first two minutes of the video. So, yes, I tried. No, I failed. Yes, I can view your PM's. No, I cannot respond.

Skip, sorry for the long delay. There was a limitation the hosting company put on the site that only allowed files up to 10mb to be uploaded, which I didn't realize. I've since moved the site to another server. If you want to ul the file, you can now.

Also, for anyone interested, many other improvements to the site have been made, all videos stream almost instantly now, and only the upload area is really sort of experimental at this point. If anyone has any feedback just let me know.

Hi Guys,

NASA Putnam Park is next weekend, I'm trying to get ready.
Anybody have a video of a well driven "HPDE" (ie not rain or defensive) line?

I've tried searching the popular video sites and seeing the turn and apex cones is helpful, but a well driven lap on video would make me happy. I've not been to this track before, so if there's any AWD/FWD relevant notes I'd be greatful for that as well.

Thanks

Lap of Putnam

Certainly not the best example, but it should give you an idea. Obviously, you won't find a good example of how to approach 9/10 in this video , but from what I can gather, pinch in on the curbing at 9, track all the way out and put your outside tire on the pit in road/curbing leading in to 10 to get a good run onto the straight. On this lap, you'll also notice that 7 was a little off. Finally, on 8 (dead-bear) I'd like to hold a little tighter line entering the corner. And of course, trail-braking needs work everywhere It's a great track, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. You can pick up all of the major points to it pretty quick, but there are enough technical features to the track to keep you working on it. Turn 4 is probably one of my favorite turns.

Thanks for the Putnam videos Ike and Darius. It was a great weekend with NASA apart from one incident which hopefully has a happy ending.

Now... Who's got Grattan? Lots of blind stuff, I've been memorizing the track map, I need to start watching some quality corner-carving excellence on video.

Lewis or other guys, I don't actually know anything about computers, but if there was something I could do to help sort out a track video library, I'd do it! (Sorting through submitted video's, scaling sizes, adding titles, compiling a list, etc)

I've only been to Grattan once. Although it was just OK, I didn't like it for the most part. With a light car, you'd have more fun.

Here's some footage:

(very little footage I might add!)

I'd really like to see that, but apparently someone else is using the streetknights' server.

EDIT: I finally got it, thanks. I assume you were the silver 777 M3. You were very good.

Sorry, should have said to "right click, save target as". I fixed it.

That was me in the 777 M3, thanks. Which car were you? I should have posted about attending earlier so I could meet more folks from here.

No apologies necessary Matt. Unfortunately our new racing car was not ready for this event. I was merely an instructor (again ). I wasn't driving anything this past weekend,

For the first time in five years, I had a student that was worthy of "in-event" run group advancement. Rather than casting him off into the crazy solo group, I asked the event organizers to allow him to run in G2 (instructor required) without an instructor.

After giving my student a safety lecture and a reminder of what it will be like not having my 260 pound fat ass in the passenger seat, I cast him off to solo-ville.

I immediately went out to watch him from remote, track-side positions.

During this time, I constantly witnessed your Sebring competence.

See you next time.

Long shot - If anyone reading this thread is going to be competing at this weekend's Redline TA event @ WSIR, I'd like to ask a favor. If you have a camcorder mount in your car I would like to ask if you would mind letting me put my camera in your car for a few laps. I can be there on Saturday or Sunday, whichever works better for you.

If anybody is still interested in track videos, then here is another.

2004 Mustang GT #26
NASA Time Trial D, track record lap
GoPro Hero camera

Note: The music stops at beginning of the lap and resumes at end of the lap. The music volume is much louder than the in-car volume (typical junk GoPro sound quality), so be careful near the end of the lap if you crank it up to hear the car.

This is a portion of the third Time Trial session on Sunday afternoon, filmed while trying to keep up with a TTB Mustang. This 3-day event was the first time I had ever turned a wheel on the track at Road Atlanta. I was able to get down to a 1:44.08 lap later in this session.

My two best laps from Group G Time Trials at 2009 NASA Nationals (very last session):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0kftnBtWl8

It was fun because I thought the track would be slow due to the weather, so I just put my worn-out practice tires on and played around for the webcast. This was good for 2nd place in TTE.

Edit:

Track Name and configuration: Miller Motorsports Park, outer (perimeter) loop.
Track Region: Rocky Mountain
Track State: UT
Track conditions: Mostly dry, faint drizzle during session but ran fine on dry Hoosiers, moderate cloud cover.

Vehicle Type: Car, 1994 Ford Taurus SHO
Level of prep: Track only, gutted, caged.
driveline layout (FF,FR,AWD,MR): FWD
Race class if applicable: TTE
Sanctioning body of class if applicable: NASA
Tire compound type (Street/Race/DOT Race): Hoosier R6

If Lewis still wants files I can send a wmv.

PIR in a dust storm. Gets good from about 6:20 on.

Track Name and configuration: Phoenix International Raceway
Track Region: Arizona
Track State: AZ
Track conditions: Temperature, High-70s F, windy, dusty but grip was only reduced in spotty sections. This session yielded fastest times of the day for several people (including me).

Vehicle Type: Car, 2003 Ford SVT Focus
Level of prep: Almost completely stock.
