Morning Fall

Ran across a repost of this on another board this morning. I'd seen it a while ago, but I don't think it was ever posted here. About 10:00 long, but worth every second. Its about a guy who crashes his motorcycle while out for a ride...

The Secret History of Silicon Valley: How Stanford & the CIA/NSA Built the Valley We Know Today

One of Google's Tech Talks. Very interesting, even more so if you are familiar with the Terman/HP story.

I searched and saw a post by Morgan that I'm 90% sure is the same thing but since that vid was removed from youtube, there is no way to tell for sure. Even if it is, it's worth posting again.

Pretty Ricky - Late Night Special
(Ok a warning: This is really disturbing on many different levels. Not quite Morgan's birthday thread disturbing, but damn close):

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-k98bRUOb4g

It's been around for a while, but I still just don't understand.

"Goddamn, you 5 are gayer than Freddy Mercury fucking a Rainbow. Full of AIDS." HA!

And of course, one of many of its parodies:

Doing the worm on an ottoman as a display of sexual prowess is almost as bad as practice kissing your hand. It kind of reminds me of the 3rd grade trick of putting your hands palms together and interlocking them with a friend to make a vagina, and the creepy friend that ended up wanting to stick his tongue in there.

Did ghey-boy forget that his Ferrari has a gas pedal?

Oh, and I don't see how you could be confused about what it means. Clearly, from the description: "a man driving a ferrari 360 modena and one truck on the same way after slam the gas and train beat the ferrari ". Seems clear as a bell to me!

The only trade I'd take for my fastback is a late-model turbo Corvair. Plus cash.

Of course - we've watched every movie in existence just to understand pop culture references. But let's pretend I didn't: Why didn't he just press the gas pedal?

Somewhat amusing Heineken commercial filmed at least partly in Ireland: YouTube Heineken Commerical

And here's the rest of the story:

1) The closing shot shows the tour bus with Ze Germans pulling away from the pub, which is the yellow house in the foreground. That yellow house is the house my grandmother, Kitty Harrington, was born in.

2) When I was visiting Ireland last April I figuratively stumbled across the house as it was being prepped for use in this same commercial, which was scheduled to be filmed the following day. I knew my grandmother was from that town (Eyeries) and that her house used to be a pub, but I did not know exactly where her house was. One of the crew setting up the props out front saw me walking through town with my camera and struck up a conversation. When the crew guy heard my tale he said, "This is probably the house!" He introduced me to the current owner who confirmed it was indeed the old Harrington pub.

That was a weird day.
