That's not a course note (tulip note) problem, its a pace note problem... However, I did notice that 70% of the cars were locked up as they came into shot, and as for the guy who came into shot on his roof! I'd say there was something going on just out of shot that was making their pace notes meaningless. Of course, pace notes are the drivers/naigators problem, the course/tulip notes are provided by the organisers.

IIRC, In many countries the spectators will throw buckets of sand onto the course to liven up the action in the corner they are watching.

R/C turbine-powered Mig-29 with real vectored thrust. First time I've seen this performance envelope from a jet model, and this pilot has skills, too.

That was just barely cool enough to forgive the Celine Dion music.

That pilot is very skilled indeed...I bet some of our recruiters would like to have a chat with him to see if he'd like to fly Predators for us.

Yeah, I forgot to include a warning about the music. Sorry 'bout that! But at least they left the music low enough in level to still hear the turbines.

Never having watched the show before, I thought "This is fucking retarded" while watching the first clip. I'm glad I watched the second one!

Is the show always this stupid and dramatic? "Oh no, he scraped his hand!"

Z-06 loses it and hits the wall at PIR.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=2

Friend of mine was at this event, Sunday Nov 25, 2007. Apparently the car was for sale and a potential buyer was driving it, attempting to heat the tires when the incident occurred.

A serious lesson in "You break it, you buy it."

Ouch.

Edit: Observers say the driver was sawing the wheel to warm the tires, and got the car into a tank-slapper.

Damn. When I was at Willow in 2002, that big sweeper (T9) coming onto the front straight made me want lots more tire, or downforce - preferrably both.

I recall that there was a wall on the left side of the front straight starting just after pit-in. Did the EVO driver hit that?

Ditto. I'm too young to wreck.

*edit*
I just finished watching that Evo crash and there's something really wrong about that "roll bar". Passenger side main hoop brace tube looks like it's tack welded instead of a full 360 bead. Yikes.

I believe that was the Mueller "time attack" Evo, which is/was fully caged, and if it doesn't look like he was going that fast then you need to watch it again.

He cut across and went off track right on the main straight.

That's not the main hoop, it's a piece of rollbar padding. Kinda hard to weld that stuff.

Phew.

Good thing I put that disclaimer in there.

Good eye, Pat. And yes, it would be extremely hard to weld that material.

Is WS and/or the Evo really that evil that dropping two wheels off at the exit is fatal? Seems like a very fast turn, but still...

With the disclaimer that I've only run once at Willow, I think as the ass end comes around he catches the pit in road edge with the left side tires and that starts the roll. It's hard to tell from the video though, I'd love to see a map of the trajectory. His line through 8 exit/9 entrance was very unconventional, at least from what I've watched and my personal experience. I was a lot slower, and when I apexed too early, it was hard to keep it on track at 9's exit.

I love that track! Definitely on the "to-do" list this year.
